Abstract

2-Alkylcyclohexane-1,4-diones, key precursors of TCNQ derivatives, have been synthesized by modified Birch reduction of 2,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid by Li and Et2NH in an ultrasonic bath and subsequent alkylation.
