Abstract
We propose a simple and relatively inexpensive method to reduce the heat loss of standard double-glazed windows. This result is achieved by the introduction of thin, transparent, convection-suppression, transverse slats between the glass panes and increasing the glazing gap so as to increase the conductive resistance. These windows have about 3 4 of the thermal resistance of evacuated windows at far lower cost and greater reliability.
