Abstract

Magnesium alloys have various applications in automotive and aerospace industries. Good electromagnetic interference shielding of magnesium leads to its application in audio and electronic industry also. These alloys are produced by various casting processes like die casting. Other production technologies include squeeze casting, thixocasting and thixomolding. Most of the future applications are not realistic with the currently available cast and wrought magnesium alloys. Additional fundamental and applicable research and development is required in all the areas of magnesium technologies and alloy development.
