Magnetic-field-induced periodic deformations in planar nematic layers

The stationary director contribution in the periodic distortions induced by a magnetic field in a planar nematic layer was numerically calculated. Focus was on the formation of periodic splay-twist (PST) and periodic twist-play (PTS) deformations. Stable wave-number bands were determined.
