Abstract
We report a new technique for studying the effect of uniaxial stress and hydrostatic pressure on the Néel temperature of antiferromagnets. Using magnetoelectric susceptibility measurements, we studied the shift in the Néel temperature TN of Cr2O3 caused by an externally applied uniaxial stress (a→ and c→ axis) or hydrostatic pressure p. Contrary to previously reported results, (dTNdp)c was approximately 70% greater than (dTNdp)a.
