Management involvement in successful e-learning delivery: A case study

Abstract

Using a case-study approach, we analyze the adoption process of an e-learning system for generating course web sites at an academic department. The department chairperson made an authority decision to use the new system in all courses and established, concurrently, a supporting mechanism for system adopters. Adoption has been increasing steadily, from 10% in the pilot semester, to 85% in the first semester of the full-scale implementation, and up to more than 95% in the fourth semester, in line with Roger's Diffusion-of-Innovation theory.
