Abstract
Differences between typical and average moments of a multifractal distribution are discussed. Negative moments are often nominated by exponentially small terms, which lead to a breakdown of multifractal scaling. Particular attention is given to the current distribution on percolating resistor networks and to the growth probabilities in diffusion-limited aggregation.
