Measuring the transmission phase of a quantum dot in a closed interferometer

Abstract

The exact results for the total transmission of the closed Aharonov-Bohm interferometer (ABI), Τ, are presented. Under appropriate conditions, one can thus extract α_D from the measured Τ, eliminating the need to open the interferometer. It is demonstrated that the results for a simple lattice model represents a real tight-binding hopping matrix element -J, -I_L, -I_R, -J_L, and -J_R.
