Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a shape and a size of a Pb-chalcogenide nanoparticle and a method for manufacturing the nanoparticle. ;SOLUTION: The method includes a preparation of a Pb (lead) precursor containing carboxylic acid and Pb dissolved in a hydrocarbon solution and a preparation of a chalcogen element precursor containing a chalcogen element dissolved in the hydrocarbon solution. A Pb-chalcogen mixture is formed by mixing the Pb precursor and the chalcogen element precursor. A nucleus forming and growing solution containing a surface active agent is also prepared by heating the solution to a nucleus forming temperature. When the Pb-chalcogen element mixture is injected into the heated nucleus forming and growing solution, a nucleus of the Pb-chalcogenide nanoparticle is formed and a Pb-chalcogenide nanoparticle solution is formed, and the solution is cooled to a growing temperature lower than the nucleus forming temperature thereafter. The Pb-chalcogenide nanoparticle solution at the growing temperature is held at the growing temperature for a predetermined time. ;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
