Abstract
Two different activity modes of an SSB radio system are defined: carrier wave with or without modulation. A detector based on nonlinear functional filtration is proposed. The detector decides which of the two above defined modes of SSB radio activity is present. The obtained results are expressed in a 'radar language', i.e., the probability of detection as a function of input signal-to-noise ratio for a fixed probability of false alarm is given.
