Abstract
A novel two-impinging-streams reactor for solid-gas operation was developed, which proved to be highly effective for heat and mass transfer operations. The transport phenomena in the reactor are highly enhanced due to the impingement of two counter-current streams of particles-carrying gas, with resulting oscillatory motion of solid particles at the impingement zone. A model of the reactor was developed which is based on Markov processes on the basis of observed flow paths of the solid particles and measurements of the residence-time thereof.
