Modeling of penetration by rigid impactors

Abstract

We describe an approach for determining the dependence between the resistance force acting on a penetrator and the instantaneous depth of penetration and velocity using a phenomenological correlation between the impact velocity and the depth of penetration into a semi-infinite shield.
