Abstract
The dimensional changes due to change in the moisture content and temperature of wood, particle board and paper are considered theoretically in the range where the internal deformations caused in these materials are expected to be elastic. It is shown that the expansion in a given direction is essentially proportional to the inverse of the modulus of elasticity in that direction. Many experimental results called from the literature are presented to demonstrate the validity of this relationship.
