Abstract
The linear and quadratic electroabsorption in the wide electron‐vibrational bands of the cubic centres are studied theoretically on the basis of the matrix formalism of the method of moments. The formulae for the field‐induced changes of the first three moments are derived, and it is shown that the dichroism effect of the electroabsorption allows to determine both the symmetry of the impurity centres and the parameters of Jahn‐Teller interaction.
