Abstract

One of the most significant issues in organic product studies is the hunt for innovative antiinfectives, as fungi-caused diseases are having an impact on human society across the world. New antiinfectives are continuously being produced from natural substances. As a result, curcumin has been used for many ailments in traditional medicine for a very long time. Numerous studies have demonstrated that curcumin has a wide range of pharmacological and biological qualities, such as antineoplastic, antiinflammatory, and antiangiogenic capabilities, and that there is no evidence of toxicity. Due to its wide range of traditional uses and minimal side effects, Curcuma longa L. and its polyphenolic component have been the subject of numerous antimicrobial experiments. There have been reports of Curcuma longa's rhizome extract and nanocurcumin's antimicrobial properties against various fungi. Due to its positive antimicrobial activity results, curcumin is a strong candidate to increase the inhibitory effect of existing antimicrobial drugs through synergism. Recently, curcumin's antifungal activity was investigated, and this review summarizes the current knowledge and future prospects of the antifungal effects of nanocurcumin.
