N2 - Edwardsiella tarda, a gram-negative bacterium, is a rare pathogen in the neonatal period. We present a term newborn that developed E. tarda septicemia following maternal amnionitis. The severe neurological outcome in this case, as well as in all other reported cases, highlights the need for meticulous neurological evaluation in neonates presenting with E. tarda septicemia even in the absence of bona fide meningitis.
