Abstract

A new method for solving the boundary layer equations of a compressible flow over a flat plate is presented. In order to avoid the typical difficulties associated with the two-point boundary value problem, a transformation was found by which the problem is reduced to a Cauchy problem. This transformation, which is based on the group property of the boundary layer equations, significantly simplifies the solution. The proposed technique provides an elegant, accurate and much faster solution for the compressible boundary layer developed over a flat plate.
