Abstract

In renewable applications, such as fuel cells, photo-voltaic(PV) typically has low terminal voltage. In order to meet residential load application an intermediate stage (high gain) is required to boost the voltage of these renewable sources. In this paper, a high-gain converter with a single switch is proposed, ensuring continuous source current and reduced voltage stress across the switch and diodes. Design equations and stress across various devices are included. Moreover, Matlab-based simulation was carried out to conform to theoretical analysis. In addition, a Ziegler-Nichols-based PI controller is implemented for closed-loop voltage regulation.
