Abstract

Published data on nuclear resonance photon scattering (NRPS), in the MeV range, from metallic targets were analysed to get the mean-square zero-point linear momenta 〈p2x〉 of the scattering atoms. It is shown that when these are combined with known experimental values of 〈x2〉 at 0 K, the theoretical lower limit of the Uncertainty Principle may be approached to within a few percent.
