Abstract

Demonstrates the ability to assess the spatial distribution of transmissivities and storativities for basins with scarce hydrologic information based on spreading of dissolved environmental tracers and hydraulic head distribution. The model is based on a lumped parameter approach in which the aquifer is discretized into a finite number of cells. Inflows and transmissivities are evaluated by optimizing a set of mass balance equations expressing conservation of water, isotopes and dissolved chemicals. Storativities are assessed by implementing the Gauss-Markov optimization approach to periodic changes in piezometric heads. -from Authors
