Abstract
Obesity and hypertension are related disorders. One of the main causes for the growing number of patients diagnosed with hypertension is the acceleration of obesity. This chapter focuses on possible mechanisms for obesity related hypertension including: activation of the renin angiotensin system with difference between white and brown adipose tissue, the role of leptin, adiponectin and resistin. This chapter describes the alteration in renal function and cardiovascular system due to obesity. The management of obesity related hypertension is discussed emphasizing the need for combined medical approach including: weight reduction and renin angiotensin blockade.
