Abstract
Four new bands of the unassigned N2 Herman infrared system (HIR) are observed in a pulsed-discharge apparatus. The upper HIR state is produced by the N2(A) + N2(A) energy pooling reaction which is studied by time-resolved spectroscopy; its production rate constant is found to be ≥4 × 10-11 cm3 molecule-1 s-1 and its energy \ ̌12eV.
