Abstract

The X-ray detection efficiencies at off-center points on the surface of Si(Li) detectors were found to be dependent on the distance from the center. The dependence of the efficiency ε{lunate}(r) on the radial distance can be approximated by the equation ε{lunate}(r) = ε{lunate}0 exp (-αr2) where α is a constant, characteristics of the detector, and is a linearly decreasing function of the inverse of the energy of the X-ray. The efficiencies for homogeneous disc, line or rectangular radioactive sources were calculated.
