On foundations of the Hardy Cross method

Abstract

It is shown that the Hardy Cross method for analysis of frames is Jacobi iterative scheme applied to the displacement formulation of structural analysis. Because of it convergence for any loading conditions is due to the strict diagonal dominance of the stiffness matrix.
