Abstract
In the traditional statement of the classical theory of plates (CTP) lateral forces are integrals with respect to transversal tangential stresses along the plate thickness. It leads to violation of the Gook's law for these stresses, appearance of contradictions of the same type that exist in the problem of beam bended by statically equivalent loads. The mentioned disadvantages can be eliminated if one will consider statically equivalently ″turned″ bending and torsional moments as lateral forces. This treatment of lateral forces is used for foundation of the suggested variant of CTP statement. Some works are analyzed where doubts are expressed in respect to correctness of the CTP.
