Abstract

The stability of a long elastic tube in a viscoelastic medium is studied. Stability conditions, formulated in terms of the characteristics of the tube and the medium, are set up. Such probelms are of interest in. studying the stability of underground structures /1-3/. The stability problem for a tube in the case when the medium is elastic was studied in /4/. This paper touches on the investigations in /5,6/.
