One-pot multicomponent domino synthesis of highly functionalized dibenzo[b,d]furans

Abstract

A simple and efficient base-promoted one-pot multicomponent synthesis of diversely functionalized dibenzo[b,d]furans has been achieved. Herein, organic base DBU smoothly promoted the domino reactions 3-coumaranone, trans-β-nitrostyrenes and malononitrile to produce dibenzo[b,d]furan derivatives in ethanol medium. Remarkably, the resulting products were obtained as pure precipitates in good to moderate yields which were separated by simple filtration from the reaction medium.
