Abstract
On many occasions, Biblical and Ugaritic scribes chose to begin successive sentences or half-lines with the same letter. This paper deals with this phenomenon by presenting various examples from poetic texts of both Biblical and Ugaritic literature. By doing so, this phenomenon is divided into three levels of sophistication, which indicate a form of poetic evolution.
