Abstract
Optical absorption spectra of Er3+ in Er2Ge2O7 single crystals are studied in the spectral range 14500 to 25000 cm−1 as a function of temperature from ambient down to 12.5 K. The transitions associated with the Er3+ absorption lines are identified. Kramers' doublets of the Er3+ ground term 4I15/2 are found at 13, 88, 125, 185, 230, 392, and 436 cm−1 relative to the ground level.
