abstract = "In this paper, we address the question of how to maximize output over the ramp-up period of a semiconductor fab. We postulate that by keeping a margin between the constraint capacity and the ramp starts cumulative output can be increased over a desired planning horizon (e.g. first year of production). A mathematical framework of the problem is offered and then used to prove our hypothesis. We demonstrate the benefit via a numerical example and a set of simulation experiments.",
