Abstract

The Horn River Formation correlates roughly with the Canol and Hare Indian formations to the north (Norman Wells area) and the lowest Horn River unit, "E', correlates with the Evie of Facies F of the Pine Point region to the south. Unit "E' has some distinguishing chemical features and significantly different petrographic properties. The shallower Horn River unit contains significantly greater amounts of extractable hydrocarbons (52-108 mg/g TOC) than the deeper "Evie' unit (38-46 mg/g TOC), even from samples from the same well. -from Authors
