Abstract

The addition of niobium in (0.8)U(2.3)TiNb ternary alloy system resulted in orthorhombic distortion of the U2Ti phase. In equilibrium, the miscibility of niobium in alpha-uranium is so extremely restricted that alpha-uranium can be considered not to form a solid solution with niobium.
