Abstract
The title compound, (C6H10N2)[ZnI 4]·2H2O, crystallizes as an organic-inorganic hybrid. The ionic layer consists of isolated ZnI4 tetrahedra. The hydrocarbon layer has two symmetry-independant centrosymmetric p-phenylenediammonium cations that link to the ionic layer via hydrogen bonding. Two water molecules of hydration lie between the anion and the two cations.
