Abstract

Packet scheduling for Internet traffic management is discussed in correlation to multiterabit networks. Queueing strategies and high-performance scheduling algorithms are required to establish the task of packet scheduling for multiterabit networks. The schedular supports the crosspoint for traffic management and allows the traversement of buffered data. The improvements in very large scale integration (VLSI) and optical technologies will stimulate innovative solutions to the intricate packet-scheduling task.
