Abstract

The phenomenon of droplet grouping is investigated within the framework of a new mathematical analysis of a laminar spray diffusion flame in an oscillating flow field. A small Stokes number is assumed for the asymptotic analysis. Various essential physical parameters inherent in the analysis are identified and the influence they exert on whether and/or to what extent droplets cluster together with subsequent impact on the flame characteristics is illustrated.
