Abstract

Using a non-relativistic single-particle hamiltonian with a σ·p term to describe parity-nonconserving elastic nα scattering we evaluate (a) the spin rotation angle for transversely polarized slow neutrons passing through liquid 4He (φ ≈ 7.3 × 10-9Rad/cm) (b) the asymmetry in total cross section for ± helicity states(A ≈ -3.4 × 10-9) and (c) the angular asymmetry (|I(θ)|max ≈ 2.0 × 10-7).
