Abstract

A staggered textured cone pattern has been developed, optimized and integrated into the inside of fascia to reduce the variation in propagation loss for 77 GHz radar with respect to changes in fascia thickness and changes in incident angle. The same cone geometry yields similar improvements for various combination of fascia, paint type and layers of paint. Simulation results show a significantly more constant propagation loss when compared to a standard non-textured fascia.
