Abstract
The anisotropy of sub-band-gap radiation induced light-scattering in As2S3 and As34S52I14 glasses is discovered and studied. Good correlation between scattering and transmittance anisotropy allows to assume that the creation of anisotropically scattered centers is the basis of all photoinduced vectoral phenomena in many chalcogenide glasses. The anisotropy of such centers can be reoriented but the number of reversible reorientation cycles is limited. Some peculiarities of photoinduced scattering and absorption processes. The spectra of linear dichroism in the glasses induced by the light of different wavelength are studied, and strong spectral selectivity of photoinduced dichroism is revealed.
