Abstract
Lauha Bhasma and Mandura Bhasma are the commonly used Ayurvedic preparations of metallic iron. These two Bhasma preparations were analyzed physico-chemically and compared. X-ray diffraction (XRD); atomic emission spectroscopy with inductively coupled plasma; particle size analysis with other routine physico- chemical study of these Bhasmas revealed the presence of various proportions of important metals along with varied concentration and form of iron. The present study demonstrates some physical properties and chemical composition of Lauha Bhasma and Mandura Bhasma.
