Abstract
It is shown that the pion-photon coupling, when there is a pion condensation, gives rise to a Chern-Simons type term. This leads to an anisotropic topological mass generation for the photon. The anisotropy is the result of two of the spatial dimensions treated differently than the third. The possibility that this phenomenon could take place during heavy-ion collisions is examined in an attempt to explain the anomalous observed MeV e+e- peaks.
