Abstract

Wisniak, J., 1993. Pitfalls in fitting binary vapor-liquid equilibria data with two-parameter equations. Fluid Phase Equilibria 89: 291-302. The graphical methods for calculating the adjustable parameters in the Van Laar and Margules equations are analyzed and discussed. It is shown that linearization of the data does not represent a necessary or sufficient condition for model validity, the ultimate proof is proper recovery of the activity coefficients or composition data.
