Abstract
Unfertilized ovules from four pineapple genotypes were cultivated in vitro. Four concentrations of sucrose and 3,6 dichloro-2-methoxibenzoic acid (dicamba) and 6- benzylaminopurine (BAP) as a hormonal combination were tested. Callus formation was obtained in all sucrose concentrations on 'Serrana Smooth Cayenne', 'Pifia blanca' and 'Red Spanish' varieties. In 'Perolera', callus formation was not observed in these culture conditions. The best results in plant regeneration were achieved with 'Red Spanish. Nevertheless, rhizogenesis was observed in 'Serrana Smooth Cayenne' and 'Piña blanca'.
