Abstract
Questions associated with the reaction between silica and molten melts are considered. If left bracket O right bracket equals 0. 010% and left bracket Si right bracket equals 0. 20% in a melt, silica is nearly insoluble. The rate at which silica dissolves increases with a rise in temperature and an increase in the concentration of aluminum in the melt. Nonmetallic inclusions can become transformed during remelting processes.
