Abstract
The proton spin-lattice relaxation time has been measured in the solid, nematic and isotropic phases of EBBA [N-(p-ethoxy benzylidene)-p-butylaniline]. Two minima were found in the temperature dependence of T1 in the solid phase. In the nematic and isotropic phase, the relaxation mechanism can be characterized by activation energies of 5.9 kcal/mole and 8.8 kcal/mole, respectively.
