Abstract
Puerperal adynamic ileus includes acute mild and severe clinical manifestations. Acute severe puerperal adynamic ileus may constitute the clinical indication of a serious underlying disease, such as sepsis, rupture of uterus, intra-abdominal or retroperitoneal bleeding, ureteral pathology, intra-abdominal foreign body and internal diseases. Sometimes the diagnosis requires abdominal and chest X-ray, uterine exploration and intravenous pyelography. Surgical treatment requires proper previous general evaluation; and fluids, electrolytes and plasma should be provided.
