In this article we develop further the physical characteristics of the junction barrier pyroelectricity, the possibility of the existence of such phenomenon we suggested in a recent report. The inherent electrical field of a p-n junction barrier creates a polar axis in the solid. The corresponding electrical dipole moment, originating in the junction region, is varying strongly with the temperature, mainly via the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant, giving rise to the pyroelectric effect. A comparative study of the physical characteristics of such pyroelectricity, in the quantum paraelectrics PbTe and SrTiO 3 , has been carried out. A detailed calculation of the internal resistance and an in-depth detailed theoretical analysis of the electrocaloric effect, are presented.
