Abstract
The quantum algorithms were reviewed and their practical perspectives were discussed. The required formal building blocks of a quantum computer: qubits and quantum gates and their desired properties were also discussed. The purpose of the presentation is to provide a review for physicists interested in the 'hardware' challenge, the requirements from a quantum computer. The role of superposition, parallelism and entanglement was also discussed.
