Abstract

We studied mixing and size segregation of a binary mixture in a partially filled rotating drum. The proposed mathematical model of material transport accounts for the free-surface segregation and predicts the evolving nonuniform distribution of the mixture components. The theoretical distributions are in agreement with the experimental data obtained.
