Abstract

The reaction of organylthiochloroacetylenes with β-mercaptoethanol in the presence of potassium hydroxide gives either organylthioethynyl 2-hydroxyethyl Sulfides or 2-(organylthiomethylene)-1,3-oxathiolanese pending on the ratio of chloroalkyne and alkali.
