Abstract

Reassessment of doses measured by TLD-100 dosimeters can be performed by extended time readout (for 30 s) or by using the photo-transferred thermoluminscence (PTTL) method. If the reassessment is performed after a long storage time, or after storage in high background environments, the background buildup may interfere with the reassessment results, inducing significant errors. An experimental procedure was applied, which enables reassessment of doses down to about 10 mSv, even for very high background contributions. No measurable fading effect could be observed.
